WIS – who?
Web International Services (WIS) is a lead generation company operating within the iGaming sector since 2012. Our mission is to provide players with top-notch data and reliable information through our one-stop-shop portals to enrich their betting experience. Our people are the experts that make this happen, and we are committed to making their employee experience positive and fun, while focused on growth and high performance.
About the job:
In this role, you will lead initiatives to enhance our infrastructure, ensuring high standards and effective team collaboration.
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer who thrives in dynamic environments and operates with autonomy, precision, and a strong sense of ownership.
You’ll play a pivotal role in driving best practices and ensuring all implementations are thoroughly discussed in our platforms’ availability, performance, scalability, and reliability, while continuously improving the CI/CD pipelines and monitoring infrastructure.
Our stack is centred around WordPress (Bedrock), Laravel, vanilla PHP, and vBulletin, hosted primarily on a Specialised WordPress Hosting Provider on G2 and GCP, with Cloudflare providing global coverage.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer who learns fast, communicates clearly, anticipates problems before they escalate, and can align technical decisions with business and performance goals.
Who You Are and What You Need to Succeed:
- An experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Apache, Nginx, MySQL, GitHub Actions, and monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Proficient in Linux system administration and scripting, with a strong understanding of automation and CI/CD practices.
- A collaborative leader with exceptional communication skills, capable of aligning team efforts and ensuring comprehensive documentation.
- Proactive and creative, with a strong ability to propose innovative solutions and align them with team goals.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards and efficiency in all implementations.
- Passionate about continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and technologies.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus, along with a strong understanding of cloud-native technologies and infrastructure as code.
What you will be doing?
- Architect, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) across multiple PHP- and WordPress-based products.
- Implement advanced monitoring and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana) to proactively identify and resolve system issues.
- Analyse server logs and metrics to detect performance bottlenecks and implement permanent fixes.
- Maintain and optimize backup and disaster recovery strategies (file, DB, configuration, logs).
- Manage caching strategies across Cloudflare, CDN, server-level, and Redis, to reduce full-page uncached loads.
- Ensure systems meet 99.99% uptime and performance SLAs (page load <1.5s for 95% of users).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Developers, QA, SEO, and BI to ensure efficient, stable, and scalable infrastructure.
- Implement and document best practices in system reliability, security, and DevOps standards (automation, incident response).
- Continuously improve processes by identifying automation opportunities and ensuring configurations follow market standards.
What would make you a great fit?
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Site Reliability roles.
- Strong experience managing Linux-based environments (Ubuntu/Debian preferred).
- Proven expertise with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and semantic versioning strategies.
- Excellent understanding of PHP application performance, WordPress (Bedrock) deployments, and web caching mechanisms (Cloudflare, Redis, Nginx FastCGI).
- Proficient in infrastructure observability and metrics-driven reliability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP) and automation tools (Ansible).
- Comfortable performing root cause analysis and designing self-healing or auto-remediation solutions.
- Communicates with clarity and purpose — knows when to escalate, when to propose, and how to ask the right questions.
- Operates independently, aligned with business priorities, and delivers consistent results with minimal supervision.
- Strong collaboration mindset — capable of translating technical work into clear, actionable insights for non-technical teams.
- Scripting knowledge (Bash, Python) for task automation and integration.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with orchestration (Kubernetes or lightweight alternatives).
- Experience in load testing (k6, JMeter, Locust) and tuning systems for concurrent traffic growth.
- Exposure to zero-trust architecture, failover mechanisms, and multi-region resilience strategies.
- Experience defining DevOps standards or leading technical initiatives.
Some of our perks for our in-house employees:
- Flexible working hours in a hybrid setup.
- Enjoy breakfast, snacks, drinks and daily free lunch.
- Boost your knowledge and career with access to learning platforms and an educational budget of up to €1500 per year.
- Benefit from sports/wellness perks, and comprehensive private health insurance.
- Take advantage of additional paternity leave (3 days beyond government-mandated days).
