Understanding Your Contractor Benefits at WIS.
Hey there! If you're thinking of joining us as a remote contractor (that's you as a self-employed / B2B professional working with us), we're grateful to be considered as a future client. We want to keep things straightforward and compliant with laws in different countries. Let's break it down simply so you know exactly how it works before we kick off this collaboration together.
Why the Contractor Setup Matters
As your client we follow legal rules to avoid mixing up contractor gigs with full-time jobs. This is called "misclassification," and it could lead to fines or issues for us—and possibly a bit for you too. The good news? We're super careful about this to protect everyone. By keeping our relationship clear, we stay on the right side of the law.
Fewer Traditional Benefits—But We've Got a Smart Twist
Legally, as a contractor, we pay you only for the hours you work or services you deliver. That means no automatic perks like paid leave or benefits, to keep things distinctly non-employee. But we get it—everyone needs time off for rest, illness, or life stuff without losing out on income. So, we've built in a friendly solution: We factor 24 paid days off right into your hourly rate!
How the Paid Time Off Works
Think of a full-time year as 40 hours/week x 52 weeks = 2,080 hours. But with our setup, you bill us for up to 1,888 hours max (that's 2,080 minus about 24 days' worth of hours). This lets us bump up your hourly rate, so those 24 days are essentially "paid" through higher earnings on the hours you do work.
Quick Example
Say the role's expected yearly pay is €30,000:
- Without time off factored: €30,000 ÷ 2,080 hours = €14.42/hour.
- With 24 days off baked in: €30,000 ÷ 1,888 hours = €15.89/hour.
See? Higher rate means you get compensated for those first 24 days off without billing us for them. Just skip them on your monthly invoice, and by year's end, your total income covers it all. (Max billable: 1,888 hours at that boosted rate.)
